The Ashintosh Trust is the charity arm of the UQMS, responsible for coordinating the Teddy Bear Hospital and raising funds to support the project. The subcommittee are advised by the UQMS executive and Dr. Nicholas Brown, the founder of the Ashintosh Trust.

Ashintosh Coffeehouse II Convener

Ashintosh Coffeehouse is one of the fundraising initiatives of the Ashintosh Foundation. Medical students from all years of the MBBS program come together to perform acoustic songs in front of an audience of their peers. The night also includes free coffee and a photography competition.

Ashintosh Battle of the Bands Convener

The Battle of the Bands is a relatively new fundraiser for the Ashintosh Foundation. Begun in 2011 as a bands night, medical students came together to play music slightly heavier than the more acoustic Coffeehouse. In 2012 the Battle of the Bands will be expanded into a competition between Medicine and one of its well-established rivals – Law, Dent or Vet!

Ashintosh Big Band Jazz Night Convener

The Big Band Jazz Night is a brand new event for the Ashintosh Foundation is 2012. A large brass band will be assembled and matched with talented jazz singers from the MBBS program to perform in front of an audience in cabaret / cocktail style.

Trephine is the annual journal, and flagship publication, of the University of Queensland Medical Society. Established in 1941, Trephine aims to provide readers with a vibrant, topical and informative insight into life as a medical student with all the year’s highs and lows. Trephine enjoys a broad readership that includes current UQ medical students and staff, in addition to practicing medical professionals who form the alumni of the UQ School of Medicine.
