Ashintosh Coffeehouse Community
Community Officer Campbell Schmidt
The Ashintosh Foundation Coffeehouses are a series of acoustic music evenings that involve medical student musicians performing live for their peers in a relaxed, informal setting. The event is based on a Canadian university social event in which acoustic musicians gather in campus coffeeshops with their friends to listen to each other play music. The most recent Coffeehouses have also included photography and illustration competitions, furthering the aim of this event to give medical students the opportunity to share in the musical and artistic talents of their colleagues.
Hot beverages are served by baristas within the medical school cohort at no cost, making Coffeehouse a unique and extremely popular event on the UQMS social calendar. Entry is by donation at the door, with Coffeehouse now serving as the premier and most public fundraiser for the Ashintosh Foundation.
