The UQMS is introducing Peer Tutes for 3rd year students in their Medicine Rotation. Medicine Long and Short cases are consistently the hardest exams to pass - 3rd year students will benefit from guidance from 4th years in preparing for their exams, and 4th years will benefit from reviewing clinical skills necessary for end of year MSATs. Peer Tutoring Program - Year 2 Student Signup

'Cause we think you need it

The UQMS runs a very successful Peer Tutoring Program each year which connects year 2 students with clinical year tutors and we will be continuing this in 2010. I know many of you took advantage of this program in 2009 as first years. Please form into small groups and select one person to be your "group organiser" and get them to fill out the form by clicking Read More below. The clinical tutors are particularly helpful in pointing out concepts that are important (High Yield) and those that are not (Low Yield). We will be allocating you a group shortly. The program should commence in full over the next couple of weeks, as sufficient tutors become available. Thus your prompt reponse would be most appreciated.

Surgical Skills Workshop 1- SIGN UP NOW CLOSED. Successful applicants will be contacted.

The first surgical skills workshop of the year is here. Come and get some hands on experience of suturing real (pig) skin. This workshop is aimed at preparing Year 3 & 4 students for their surgical rotations and will be run on the weekend between rotation 1 and 2. There are only 60 spots, so sign up fast.

The UQMS offers a peer tutoring program for first years, delivered by their 2nd year compadres. Who better to teach a years content of work then those who have just finished learning it for themselves? The Peer Tutoring Program is not only spectacular, sexy and free, its also a great way to make new friends in Year 2. These students are particularly helpful in pointing out concepts that are important (Yield) and those that are not (Low Yield).
